Getting to Tibet
Overland Tour to Tibet
For those who want to opt for overland journey from Kathmandu via Friendship Highway, we suggest to take a 4 wheel-drive which is considered the easiest route. Other routes like Sichuan (Chengdu), Yunnan (Kunming), Qinghai (Xining) and Xinjiang (Yecheng), are very difficult and we do not recommend these routes for the Lhasa bound travelers.
But please note if you are entering Tibet from Nepal, you must get your Chinese Visa in Kathmandu. The Chinese visa can be obtained only from 9:30AM-11:00AM every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Lhasa by Air
There are flights from Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi’an, Chongqing, Kunming, Zhongdian and Kathmandu (Nepal) to Gonggar airport. Gonggar airport is about 65km from Lhasa city. Please contact us for latest flight schedule
By Train
Now there are trains connecting to Lhasa from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou Chengdu, Chongqing, Lanzhou and Xining. Please contact us for the price and Qinghai-Tibet Railway schedule.
